Position Overview

 The role of the PC Technician is to provide First Line/Tier 1 support to end-users, and to perform troubleshooting for desktop and network systems as necessary. The PC Technician is also responsible for supporting and troubleshooting the Credit Union network, including both Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) configurations. In addition, the PC Technician provides support for all First Financial Credit Union hardware and software, including installation, preventive maintenance, inventory documentation, and working with vendors facilitate repair as needed


 Essential Functions/Duties include:

  • Provide tier 1 and occasional tier 2 technical support, which includes centralized incident and request handling for users, with a focus on first call resolution. Use best practice for incident management including detailed ticket documentation and application of analytical skills to identify root cause and quickly determine the resolution
  • Diagnose, triage, and escalate incidents and requests to appropriate tier 2 and tier 3 assignee and/or team while ensuring adherence to department service standards
  • Facilitate tier 4 technical support as needed, and interface with vendors to ensure successful resolution of tier 4 escalated issues
  • Participate in disaster recovery, system redundancy, and business continuity planning and testing
  • Provide status reports of work activities, as requested by IT leadership
  • Work with IT team members to identify issue trends and suggest long-term strategies to help mitigate incoming issues
  • Occasionally may be required to travel to branch locations on support calls and installations
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support using tools for standard configurations of workstations, laptops, operating systems, software, hardware, printers, and peripherals
  • Handle problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and trouble ticket follow-up for routine user problems, referring more complex trouble tickets to supervisor or more senior-level Helpdesk Technician
  • Assist in system upgrades and maintenance, including, but not limited to, add and/or remove memory, hard drives, video cards and power supplies
  • Troubleshoot and repair common personal computer hardware and software problems, such as Microsoft Windows operating system problems, Microsoft Office software problems, and simple network problems with Internet browser software
  • Use Microsoft Active Directory tools for account creation/disabling, password reset, and group membership
  • Assist with the design, implementation


Minimum Requirements

  • At least 1 year of full-time experience either administering a current Microsoft Windows/Active Directory network, or working in a PC/Help Desk Technician role, or equivalent experience
  • Education: High School diploma.  College degree or relevant IT certification preferred. 
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends, if necessary
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of PC hardware and software, including current Microsoft Windows operating systems, productivity software, and common business applications
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Active Directory networking, and Microsoft Windows Server administration
